We offer on-location sessions, studio sessions, extended family portraits and family event coverage for birthdays, graduations and reunions.

With over 10 years of experience, you can count on Poppy Seed Photography to offer a warm and playful experience that results in beautiful images for your family to enjoy for generations to come. We keep sessions relaxed, fun and interactive so we can  capture genuine interactions and expressions between you and your family.

Each session includes product credits that can be used to purchase prints, digital images or other specialty photography products. Premium sessions are $400 and include a $250 product credit. Clients typically spend $1000-$3700 on custom wall art, heirloom albums and fine art prints.

Our goal is to provide top notch service to guide you through the portrait process from wardrobe advice and styling, an amazing session.  We will complete the process by providing our expertise and guidance for products that will become beautiful art for your home that matches your style and personality to be enjoyed by your family for years to come.

Pricing

Premium Portrait Sessions $400

Premium portrait sessions in studio or on-location in Twin Cities metro last about an hour and includes a product credit of $250 to be used towards your order. These sessions allow time for a lot of variety of backgrounds, outfits, poses and groupings for your family. On-location choices also allow you to make your session unique and expressive of your own family’s personality.

Minimalist Studio Sessions $300

20-30 minute studio session with a $200 product credit towards your order.


Studio sessions are a great way to capture your family in a simple, easy way. Studio sessions have less distractions both visually and logistically for our clients.  This works especially well with young children who get easily distracted as well as families hoping to capture memories in the cooler months of the year.

 

Birthday Parties $350

$350 for the first hour, $150 for each additional hour

Add-on $150 for 1-hour of Photo Booth. Two hour event minimum requirement. 

Coverage includes:

• Photo-journalistic/candid style photography
• Digital images included in pricing
• Photo Booth option available at an additional fee.

Preparing for your

Session

What should we wear to our session? Dress to match your sofa, of course! I’m only half kidding. Consider where you want to display your final art and it might help you decide on clothing color schemes and even the location you choose.  The following are a few more tips to help you prepare for your session.

Timing

Choose a session time that ensure your family members are well rested with full stomachs. This will help everyone enjoy the session and make it through with lots of smiles!

Be Happy and Calm

Try to plan and prepare for your session so everyone can get ready, arrive and be ready to be photographed with as little stress as possible. It's hard to relax and smile for the camera if the moments leading up to the session have been crazy. Plan to arrive early for your session so everyone can have a few minutes to get used to their new environment before you begin.

Clothing

Start with one outfit and build from that item's color scheme for rest of your family. Avoid more than one outfit with patterns.  Keep clothing choices simple, logo free, and not distracting. This allows the portrait to be about your beautiful faces and less about the outfits. Do not dress the same. Choose clothes that are flattering for each person. There are lots of ways to coordinate without matching. Check out some of our Pinterest boards for more inspiration.

Hair

Need a haircut? Try to have your hair cut at least a week before your shoot, so it doesn’t look like you just got a haircut in your portraits.

Gentlemen, please make sure you are clean-shaven if that is the look you want. Retouching stubble costs extra and is still does not look as good as a clean shave.

Nails

Your fingers will be in your photos. Trim, file nails and if you plan to wear nail polish, be sure your nail polish isn’t chipping off.

Clean faces

If your child’s nose is runny, or his/her eyes water, be sure to bring some facial tissue or baby wipes along. Try to avoid snacks during the session.  They can cause major distractions. If you must have them, bring non-crumby or snacks that are sticky or full of food coloring.
