From my first conversations with Tasha and Andrew I knew that they were “my people”. I often feel so very lucky with my clients because I seem to attract intelligent, creative and interesting couples and Tasha and Andrew are no exception. They love movies, music, are super crazy smart people and very fun to hang out with. When they asked me to to their engagement session at a micro movie theater, I swooned. So naturally, I was very excited to photograph their wedding.
Tasha and Andrew met each other in the fall of 2009 at Gustavus Adolphus College. Andrew was an RA at Tasha’s dorm and they saw each other around campus as well. They started hanging out more in the spring of 2010 and after spending a summer apart they started another year of college and started dating on October 1st, 2010.
The couple’s first impressions of each other were quite positive. Andrew thought Tasha was extremely attractive, smart and great to talk to, and they had a lot in common. Tasha thought Andrew was cute and funny and fun to talk to.
Andrew always knew he wanted to be with Tasha forever. About five years into their relationship the couple faces some really serious life challenges together and it became apparent to Andrew that they made a great team and that he wanted Tasha to be his lifelong partner. Tasha feels her and Andrew share the same life values and their bond grew with their many shared interests, including the love they share for their sweet corgi. While Tasha had never really been interested in in being married she knew she wanted to be with Andrew forever.
Being some serious movie buffs, Andrew took a half day of work on 5/11/18 (5/11 is an important day in Goodfellas, one of the couple’s favorite movies), and went home to start preparing a made from scratch Italian dinner of spicy chicken rigatoni and bruschetta.
Tasha came home from work and Andrew was dressed in a suit and she had no clue what was going on. Andrew played it off as I made her a dinner because that day was the day Henry Hill got arrested in Goodfellas, so she dressed up too.
Andrew decided to ask her to marry him before dinner, since he was too nervous to eat. He had the couple’s corgi, Bennie, included on the proposal, by putting a sign around his neck that said, “Will you marry my dad?” Tasha said yes! They celebrated with their candlelight Italian dinner with some wine, watched Goodfellas and called their family and friends to share the news.
The couple’s wedding at Gale Mansion in Minneapolis took place in early September just over nine years after the couple first started dating. Their movie themed wedding was complete with a lot of personal touches that highlighted their love of movies. Each table setting had a movie reel tin and a movie themed name for the table. Their floral decor included beautiful details of peacock feathers and flowers.
During the photography portion of the day we made use of the interior of the building for the first look then ventured outside of the Mansion and captured the couple on the grounds of Gale Mansion, in the adjacent park and near the MIA just down the block. Their wedding party and family were so very fun to work with. We had such an amazing time at this wedding.
After a beautiful outdoor ceremony perfectly lit by a cloudy sky the celebration began with a cocktail and into a lovely dinner and dance.
Thank you Tasha and Andrew for allowing us to capture your amazing wedding. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness together!!
